From 30,000 Feet: The 4 Ingredients Behind My Facilipreneur Journey ✨

Stories, Tips and behind-the-scenes of a freelance globetrotting facilitator

Hi Reader, It's Nathy

As I write this, I’m flying to India for the very first time—and I can’t even begin to explain how excited I am.

I already know this trip will be filled with inspiring people, unforgettable moments, and a deep dive into the facilitation world in a whole new context.

This week, I’m taking part in Facilitation Week in Mumbai, connecting with incredible facilitators from the IAF and co-leading a game-based session with Mohsin Memon—who you may have heard on my podcast recently!

We talked about:

  • The AFERR model for designing sessions that truly stick
  • And Evivve, his powerful leadership game

Right now, high above the clouds, I’m just feeling deeply grateful.

Grateful that my work allows me to travel, connect across cultures, and learn from different facilitation styles around the world.

And grateful that I’ve built a business that supports this lifestyle—a business shaped around my values and vision.

💡 BUT JUST TO BE CLEAR...

This life didn’t happen overnight.

It took pivots. Discovery. Uncertainty.

Now, in 2025, I can confidently say: the recipe I’ve created for my business is working.

From Freelancer to Facilipreneur

At the start, every workshop I ran was fully customized.

I was trading time for money. It was a great way to begin—but also exhausting. I was constantly adapting my work to fit clients’ needs and always chasing the next opportunity.

And honestly, I craved more time:

💛 Time for pro-bono projects that matter to me
🌍 Time to enjoy traveling
🧭 Time to design a life around my passions

That’s when I realized: I didn’t just want to freelance.

I wanted to become a facilipreneur.

A facilipreneur doesn’t just deliver workshops—they build a solo business around their expertise, with clear offers, consistent visibility, and a supportive ecosystem.

🧩 The 4 Ingredients of a Facilipreneur Business

During the Fit For Facilitation week, I share the recipe that works for me:

  1. Expertise - Don’t stay a generalist. Get crystal clear on what you do best and how it helps others.
  2. Media - Choose a medium you love—writing, podcasting, video—deliver value and make yourself visible.
  3. Product - Create signature offers that solve a clear challenge . Think branded, repeatable, and adaptable.
  4. Eco-system - Don’t build in isolation. Relationships, collaborations, and community make the journey sustainable.
